Flow drilling is a manufacturing method during which a tool is pressed against a thin-walled metallic material by using relatively high rpm and axial force. During this procedure the accuring frictional heat plasticizes the material, so that the drill can be lead through the workpiece. The material is mainly flowing to the underside and is building a „bushing“, which is 3 to 5 times thicker than the original thickness of material.
